THANKSGIVING 2017: A Manifesto

THANKSGIVING 2017: A Manifesto

Dearly Beloved,

We are gathered here to talk about Thanksgiving 2017.

Orchestrating Thanksgiving week at a pie shop is very similar to trying on bathing suits…in November. It is tough and stressful and sometimes you find yourself stress eating and crying in a Target dressing room. But enough about last Tuesday.

We thought the best way to ensure that everything flows smoothly the week of Thanksgiving is to give you wayyyyy too much information and hope one of the A’s below answers one of your Q’s. That way, we don’t end up in adjacent dressing rooms questioning all of our decisions up to this point.

So, how is this whole Thanksgiving thing going to work? As a pie shop, our biggest week of the year is Thanksgiving week, of course.  Being a small shop means we have to limit what we can offer in order to provide as many pies to as many people as possible.

The following bits of information pertain to the week of Thanksgiving 2017:
 Sunday, November 19th – Saturday, November 25th.

1. When Do I Order My Thanksgiving Pies?
We will begin accepting orders for Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 1st at 9am.

2. How Do I Order My Thanksgiving Pies?
The ONLY way we will be accepting orders is ONLINE at orderpiebar.com.

All pies must be ordered online and pre-paid.

3. How Long Do I Have Left to Order Pies for Thanksgiving?
The last day you can pre-order a pie is Thursday, November 16th by 9pm.

We will STOP accepting orders on Thursday, November 16th at 9:01pm.

4. Do I Pay for My Pies When I Order Them?
Yes. All pies must be ordered online and pre-paid.

5. Should I Order a Pie Ahead of Time or Just Walk-In and Pick One Up?
We strongly encourage you pre-order your pie.

The last day you can pre-order a Thanksgiving pie is Thursday, November 16th by 9pm.

The few extra pies we will bake for walk-ins will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations on walk-in pies.

6. When do I Pick-Up My Pies?
If you pre-ordered your pies, please make sure you pick-up your pies during the correct time, on the correct day. You will choose the time and day when you order your pie online.

If you come during the incorrect shift, you are risking your pie not being available/ready for pick-up.

If you decide to not pre-order a pie, we recommend coming on Tuesday, November 21st or on Thursday, November 23rd. We tend to have more walk-in pies on those two days.

7. Let’s Talk Hours, Shall We?
Sunday, November 19th: CLOSED
Monday, November 20th: CLOSED
Tuesday, November 21st: 11am – 7pm (whole pies only)
Wednesday, November 22nd: 11am – 7pm (whole pies only)
Thursday, November 23rd: 8am – 10am (whole pies only)
Friday - Monday: CLOSED
Tuesday, November 28th: OPEN!!!

We will be CLOSED for a few days following Thanksgiving.. because we are tired. And we want to watch all the Netflix in our pajamas. Yes, that means we are closed on Small Business Saturday, but you can still shop our merchandise and schedule pie orders online (orderpiebar.com) for when we return on Tuesday, November 28th. You can also get some sweet deals at PieProvisions.com.

8. Let’s Talk about Pot Pies, K?
There will be NO Pot Pies this week (I know..I hate me too). In fact, we will cease all Pot Pie Production in the next few weeks and will not restart making them until AFTER the holiday. What does this mean? Once we are “sold out” of Pot Pies (whether it comes on Nov. 1st or Nov. 21st) we will not be making more until the week AFTER Thanksgiving. Our recommendation: STOCK UP EARLY!! We need the storage, oven time, and labor focused on your Thanksgiving orders.

9. Let’s Talk about Quiche, Please?
There will be NO Quiche this week (again.. I am the worst). In fact, we will cease all Quiche Production in the next few weeks and will not restart making them until AFTER the holiday. What does this mean? Once we are “sold out” of Quiche (whether it comes on Nov. 1st or Nov. 21st) we will not be making more until the week AFTER Thanksgiving. Our recommendation: STOCK UP EARLY!! We need the storage, oven time, and labor focused on your Thanksgiving orders.

10. Let’s Talk about Slices, Yes?
There will be NO Pie by the Slice this week (WHAT!?!). What does this mean? We will sell WHOLE PIES ONLY starting on Tuesday, November 21st – Thursday, November 23rd. This includes sampler pies and “Half-Half” pies. We need the storage, oven time, and labor focused on your Thanksgiving orders.

11. What is Window Service?
With our limited square footage, we need all the space we can get. This means the retail portion of our store will be closed during pie pick-ups on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

We will have two walk-up windows available for you to be assisted by our staff. One window will be for pre-orders and one window will be for walk-ins. Both windows will be labeled clearly, so no worries!

12. What Pie Flavors are Available to Order?
Being a small shop means we have to limit what we can offer in order to provide as many pies to as many people as possible. If you are interested in ordering a pie that is NOT on this menu, we suggest you pre-purchase your favorite Pie Bar pie and freeze it for the big day. We are happy to provide freezing instructions.

Thanksgiving 2017 Menu

Traditional Apple - $28
Bourbon Chocolate Pecan - $28
Bourbon Pecan - $27
Pumpkin Praline - $28

13. You Mentioned Pre-Purchasing and Freezing a Pie?
Yes! There are some pies that freeze and thaw really well! If you are interested in avoiding the crowds, give us a call and we can recommend the best pies for you to pre-purchase and freeze at home.

We are dedicated to working quickly and efficiently so you will be able to get your pies fast and head on your way!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Pie Bar Team
