Pi(e) Day: A Recap

Pi(e) Day: A Recap

If you don’t know me, the first thing you need to know about me is that I absolutely adore puppies. As soon as we officially decided to proclaim our Pi(e) Day theme for 2019 as “Puppies & Pies”, my heart was joyous. Two of my favorite things, at the same place and at the same time?!

We knew that if we were going to do it – we had to go big or go home. We did a soft set-up the day before, and three parking spaces of sod later, we had our own little Pie Bar front yard. I have to say, I was so amused watching Cody and Lauren water the parking lot from inside. We looked like crazy people for a day, but it was definitely intriguing to new customers!

I got to test out our little agility course when it came in. In other words, I wore the tube as an outfit and rolled around in the parking lot for some time. But I was stoked to set it up in our “front yard”, and even more stoked for all of the puppies that would be peekin’ out of it so very soon.
And just like that it hit – the most wonderful time of the year: March 14th a.k.a. 3.14. Pi(e) Day was without a doubt, an incredibly busy day for us. We had to pre-slice around forty pies that morning just to keep up with the crowd! But it was so, so worth it.

All day, I was distracted by doggos of all shapes and sizes. Of course, my heart felt warm when I got to see my own little pup swing by for some puppy treats. Between the little photo booth with puppy props, our puppy treats, the outdoor agility course, and OF COURSE – pie: that day was both a remarkable and memorable one.
It was great seeing both old and new faces (as well as their favorite, furry friends) coming by for a sweet treat. In fact, we even saw some feathery friends too (yes, we had a parrot outside the shop). Maybe the theme for Pi(e) Day 2020 will be Parrots & Pies?! I kid. But Pi(e) Day 2019 truly was a special day.
I was sad to see the sod being rolled up at the end of the day. It felt like the final hour of a birthday party, where you just want your friends to stay forever – but unfortunately the day has to come to an end.
HOWEVER, if you missed the fun on Pi(e) Day, you may or may not get the chance to re-live the experience for Friday Night Live on April 5th. Downtown Woodstock's next Friday Night Live theme is Fido Fest: a dog-themed evening around the town. We can't wait to see ya!
